Job Description

The EP practice is a 1 APP 1 MD practice. However, the EP department at Piedmont is made up of 12 MDs + 10 APPs department covering 4 hospitals.

 
Patient Volume:
Inpatient EP volume is approximately 10 patients per day with a general cardiology census of 50-60 patients per day. (EP APPs are expected to see General Cardiology patients if needed.) Outpatient volume is 15-20 patients per day.

EP volume has a focus on device implantation only (no high-risk EP procedures).

Training/Support for this position:
Dependent on the candidates current experience level -- We have the ability to train this APP at multiple sites both inpatient and outpatient for 3-12 months. If training is required, we would plan to train at Piedmont Atlanta and Piedmont Eastside for inpatient, and Lawrenceville and Marietta offices for outpatient.
Training is usually 3 months. If needed, EP physician willing to extend their training.



Job Roles/Position Overview:

• Hybrid Role: Primarily outpatient EP setting, with a few days dedicated to inpatient coverage. This is a full-time position working variable shifts including days, holidays, night call coverage, and weekends.

In this role you will:

• Assist in the evaluation and treatment of electrophysiology patients in an inpatient setting and in independent outpatient clinics.
• Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record the data in the patient’s record.
• Write progress notes, consults, admissions, and discharge summaries.
• Prepare patient workups.
• Order and schedule diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for patients as direct patient care services are delivered.
• Work alongside physicians and other cardiology advanced practice providers in a collaborative team.
• Overnight call and hospital/clinic coverage occasionally include general cardiology patients.
• Some travel between sites is required

Candidate Qualifications:

Experience:

• Minimum 1-2 years of Inpatient/Outpatient cardiology experience required.
• Experienced EP APPs with 1-2 years of EP experience strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with pacemakers and defibrillators a plus.

Certification:

• Certified EP APP is a bonus, but not required.

Comprehensive Benefits Package:

401K match:
Piedmont will match up to 6% after 1 year. New hires are automatically enrolled at a 3% pre-tax contribution rate and can increase or decrease that amount, or opt out of the plan at any time. Piedmont will match up to 6% after 1 year and 1,000 hours worked.
